Should I get a macbook pro or air?
I am going to be in year 11 next year, so I am likely to be doing lots of assignments and work on a laptop. I want a new laptop and have never used macs before but everyone says they are better, I'm not sure why though? I quite like the design of the macbook air but that's about it, I'm not someone who will need to carry their laptop around a lot. It will most likely just sit on my desk, so I suppose there's no point getting it as it is quite a bit more expensive than the pro. On the other hand I do love the design. But in terms of computer quality, graphics, speed, etc. which is better, the macbook air or pro? I'm kind of leaning towards the pro now because I want a 15" and the macbook air doesnt come in that size. I would prefer not to have to use and external optical drive although I wouldn't exactly mind much.

It really depends on what you want to use it for.
The Air is compact and boots up faster than the Pro, besides, it is cheaper. The downside is of course its specifications, its processor and the display size. If you want a bigger display, and judging that you wont' be lugging your laptop around much, I suggest you get the Pro. Get the Air if you want basic usage - checking emails, online surfing, writing documents. That's what it's for - basic functionality without all the FLUFF. The Pro is a workhorse - for intensive use, especially from a design perspective. Consider your budget as well, because a 15'' Pro would cost you a lot more.

If it is going to be on your desk then get a Pro, it has better graphics, storage and processor.
Don't listen to the idiots who say macs suck, they are way better than PCs (Especially OSX Lion) in terms of user experience and design, only thing is they are much more expensive than the same config of a PC. But if you are into design they have much better software that you can't find for windows. The OS is also faster out of the box compared to windows (especially vista which is a slow piece of crap).
Source(s): I've used both, both are good in their own rights. - Anonymous10 years ago
Macbook air will break on you in 1 week, Get a mac book pro trust me they're really good. Or go for a windows laptop hp or Toshiba are my recommendations

If it were me i would get the macbook PRO because it has more features and way way better specs than the AIR. I think the AIR is a complete rip off because it has like 1 or 2, pretty sure its 1 USB port, no CD/DVD drive, no firewire or ethernet port and the specs are low from what i've seen.
hope this helps you out:)
