John M is right he is considered to be an all rounder. His strength is his time trialing, which is a weakness of many other GC riders, like the Schleck brothers. You have unfortunately missed the team time trial where he helped his team SKY procycling to a third placed finish.

If he is perceived to have a weakness then most judges suggest it to be in the mountains, though this is hard to analyse as he has only competed in two tours and he performed well climbing in the criterium du dauphine. Last years routes in the mountain stages were notoriously difficult and he was left on a couple of finishes by the superior climbers (Contador, A.Schleck et al).

The fact that he is a GC rider will probably mean that stage wins will be at a premium as he needs to preserve his energy, also a lot of emphasis is placed on strategy meaning tactics are evident in the peloton with leading teams keeping tabs on each other. So his best chance of a stage win will probably at the penultimate stage in Grenoble, stage 20 is a 42.5km time trial which should suit if he still has the legs.

He started out on the track, he is the leader of team Sky and is considered as a rouleur which is a good all around rider.
