how do i get my brother off of his video game addiction?

this is getting really serious. im 17 and my brother is 14. when i was his age i was the same way, i stayed up all night playing Xbox Live and video games time and time again. however, now its getting out of hand, he stayed up all night 3 times this week playing. i feel sorry for him because we're all out doing stuff but he wants to stay and play games. i eventually grew out of my addiction, should i wait until he realizes hes wasting his life away or report him or something

Have your parents take the power cord away and only allow a certain amount of hours of play a day, and have them take it with them to work or whatever so he isn't tempted. He only will have so much money, so even if he tries to buy or borrow a new cord, make sure they continually check it and take it away. Also have them move it into the living room or family room if they have to. Eventually he'll get bored because he's not going to get very far in his games, that his addiction will cease to exist. You know all the tricks of the trade of this addiction so you can help them stop it. Good luck!

Hint to your parents that you should set a time restriction on his xbox, or ps3, or what ever. If he tries going on after his set time, then take his console away for a day, or a week or something.
