I know I just read about it in a book I got entitled "Tradition And The Church" by Monsignor George Agius, D.D., J.C.D., originally published in 1928 by The Stratford Company in Boston, and again in 2005 by TAN Books and Publishers in Rockford, Illinois. I find it interesting that in a "Dedicated" page at the front of the book, they quote St. Paul in his Second Book to the Thessalonians (2:14) where St. Paul said, "Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word or by our epistle". In that statement alone, St. Paul declares the Bible as NOT the only source of Christian learning and actions. And on the Title page they quote the well known verse from John 21:25, where he says, "But there are also many other things which Jesus did; which, if they were written every one, ,the world itself, I think, would not be able to contain the books that should be written". And to imagine that the all-knowing protestants thought they needed to take out books and verses of the Bible in use at the time of Martin Luther and gang. God Bless you.

I'm not good at editing my answers which is why I erased the original two "paragraphs" of it after I entered what I put above, but, I'm as sure as I can be that St. Paul, as recorded in the Bible, specifically told us to pray to the Saints. I may not be able to find the "chapter and verse" for a while, but I'll find it, and I'll come back and enter it here even after "Best Answer" has been awarded, if that's still possible under Yahoo's software programming. God Bless you.

It depends on what you mean by pray. If a criminal prays to a king to spare his life, that is also a prayer. In such case, there is no verse saying you should only pray to God. There are various such prayers recorded in the Bible.

If you mean, prayer as in worship, then read

Luke 4:8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.

Deut 6:13 Fear the LORD your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name.

The hilarious irony is that people like Suze love to gack up the verse about how self-righteous windbags go on and on thinking they will be heard for their many words.

Just look at that long hairball of an answer with no answer in it.

To answer the question: Nope; don't think there is one.

the saints are Alive living in the glory of Christ in Heaven, that's why the scriptures say that we are surrounded by a cloud of "Witnesses". How can witnesses be construed to be a dead being? As we catholics all realize, that when it comes to proof testing, they over look "some" of the scriptures and "magnify" others, that they believe is their proof. Even Jesus went to preach to the spirits in the bosom of abraham, He had just died on a cross, and the spirits long before that died, yet--Jesus is going to "preach" to them, obviously then, those who die in the friendship of Jesus christ never die , merely pass on to another life. scripture says that we should pray ye for another--and since no one is dead UNLESS they go to hell (the 2nd death) scripture says to pray one for another. that means praying to other who are living. those bible cherry pickers aught to read revelations also where it states the saints are surrounding the throne of God sending up prayers as Insense.

They're quiet because they're still looking for a verse in the bible that they can twist to make it say only pray to god.

Exodus 20:3 You shall have no other gods before me. When we pray, we pray only to God.

1 Kings 18:24 And call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord: and the God that answers by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

So it is to God and God alone who we pray to. Every Godly person in the Bible prayed to God and God alone.

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

There is noone else we pray to, whether that be angels, demons, living people, or dead people.

Suzzy's answer was hilarious, she is a mighty fine dancer!

Note, fundies, we want passages that say "pray only to God", Jesus said pray to the Father and we do, that is irrelevant, find somewhere where it says ONLY.

You seem like a smart person who knows the answer already.GOD is speaking to you but you refuse to listen. Open your bible and read it and God will show you the verse you want. If I am right you are determined to find the truth but you want someone to do it for you. open your heart and seek him and God will show you all that you want to know. And no, I don't have the answer But this I know He rose from the dead and is alive forever.Mary , Joseph and the others are all dead so why would you pray to a dead person. I sincerely hope you find your answer reading your bible and I will start practicing what I preach.

Jesus loves you and appreciates you.
