Why are my angelfish bullying each other?
These two are jerks. They murdered a few fish I had (I found one ripped open, ugh) and they're always lurking through the tank together. Anywho, now they've started taking turns chasing each other around. They live in a 37 gallon tank, nearly alone. My x-ray tetras don't exist to them.
I don't know if it helps, but one has a very straight top fin and the other one's top fin is very curved and pretty. Dunno if it's a male-female thing. Last night the straight fin one was harassing his friend, but tonight, it's totally reversed.

is one bigger then the other? the thing with angelfish are that the bigger one will bully the other one to death.. if he is bigger he is more dominant most likely... that means eventually he will not let the smaller one get very much food and he will hog like all of the food... that is what happened to my angelfish he took all the food and then eventually killed the smaller angelfish.......
i hope this helps.

Angel fish are cichlids, and predetory carnivores. You have to be very carefull y what other fish are in the tank, A 55 is really a better size tank for angels.
Angelfish are ok together when small, but once their body size is half dollar size or so, they start to get territorial, Mails and females will choose mates wich they will keep for life, but other angels will be seen as threats. If you have 2 males or 2 females, they will likely never get along and need to be seperated. If the are a male and female, they might pair up, they might not. Unfourtunatly, their is no way to tell if you have males or females until they are ready to mate.
If they are still fighting, you can try adding more plants and decorations, and try mixing up the plants and deco in the tank. If that doesnt help, you will need to seperate them.

You need a really big tank (much bigger than 37 gallons) if you are going to attempt to keep other fish with angels - and most of their smaller tankmates WILL be eaten regardless. Angels ARE cichlids remember - and most cichlid species are kind of jerks (I love cichlids - so don't be mad at me anybody - you have to agree they can be jerks to other fish). I'd just keep them alone, you are kinda maxed out with just the two angels in a 37 gallon anyway.

Sometimes angelfish can be big bullies. You may have a mating pair there. Some angelfish you get will be bullies, others can be shy. They are members of the Cichlid family after all. Maybe if you had one angelfish you would not have this problem. I have one angelfish with other fish and its shy.

Your tank is too small for two angelfishes. and your two angel fishes have paired up. Angel fishes are very sometimes aggressive about their territory, and are aggressive to smaller fishes.

They belong to the cichlid family and are aggressive. It's not them being jerks, it's just the way they are.
They probably just got sexually mature, and need a bigger tank.

It's not that they are overly aggressive, it's that they are in a tiny tank.
It's kinda like if you and I had to live in your hall closet. We wouldn't have to hate each other to begin pushing and poking each other, it's just not enough space.

Angel fish are naturally aggressive and have been known to kill other fish when quartered together.
