Pregnant horse question!!! PLEASE HELP!?
Last November, a 17h stallion got in with my mares. One of my mares looks to be pregnant. She has a very very big belly. We did not see her get bred but we did see one of the other mares get bred by the stallion. My mare that might be pregnant is only 14h and I am afraid that the baby might be turned sideways and is too big for her to handle. My question is, could the baby be too big for her to handle and foal to and could the baby be turned sideways if her belly is very big?? Thank You!
Also my mare that might be pregnant has NOT been in heat since the stallion has been gone.
Excuse me Fennec Fox but you have No right in accusing me of stuff! If you knew how hard it is to control a wild stallion you wouldnt have gotten him out quick either. So don't bother. Go answer someone elses question rude. If you don't have anything nice to say then leave my page and question and DO NOT come back!

First off, have your vet do a pregnancy check on her. Then he can also answer all your questions while he is there and has first-hand knowledge of the situation. This is also a good time to discuss the recommended vaccines that mares should get while they are pregnant and their timing as well as deworming recommendations.
But in general, just because the stallion was big doesn't mean that the foal will be. Typically that isn't a problem. The belly being big also doesn't mean that the baby is too big or turned sideways--mares get big bellies when they are pregnant.

just because the stallion was big doesn't mean the foal will be. If you feed the mare more than recommended and give to much supplements then you may have a foal that is to large. Foals can be side ways that's why you make sure you have a vet willing to come if there are problems. Go have her palpated that doesn't cost much get her on a mare supplement for milk production feed her right and you will be just fine.

Fennec was just telling you the truth. You'd better get used to it, she answers a lot of questions on YA. And a foal can only grow as large as the Mare's uterus. And, just because the stallion was big, doesn't mean that the mare's foal will be. Um, another thing, why didn't you have a vet give her an ultra-sound? I find it odd that instead of getting medical help, you resort to asking well meaning users on YA as well. You need to get yourself in check, and then take care of your horses, instead of asking us to give you all of the answers. I'm sorry, but it's (once again) someone telling you the truth.

The only way to know is to have the vet come and check her out.
If this happens again then have the vet come out within a couple of weeks to check the mares and if there is a pregnancy then it can be aborted preventing this issue completely.

you could journey the horse for the 1st few months, yet around 3 or 4 months, she would be ready to no longer in basic terms be too vast, besides the undeniable fact that it would desire to severely injure her or the foals. my buddy has a pregnant horse,, and that i rode her the day previous to this. i does no longer propose which you enable her have the twins nevertheless. maximum animals births of twins like cows and horses do no longer circulate nicely, the infants and ordinarily the mummy to boot die!

Fennec hit it right on the nose! Why would you stall around for such a long time? This is the horse section equivalent of the stupid girls adolescent section asking if they're pregnant or not.

Oh god, i know nothing about pregnancy with horses. Yet even i know that a foal will only grow as large as it's mother uterus. what is it going to do? expand and live inside of her for the rest of its life? Maybe fall out of her belly button?
good god, may the force be with you.
Yeah, FFS, its going to turn effing sideways and do the tango in her stomache.
