Laser printers aren't really meant for home use, and they don't pay off unless you are printing 100+ documents a month. Toner cartridges for small laser printers average about $40 to $80 a piece, but yield about 2000-5000 pages. Compared to Inkjet $30-$50 each at 500-1500 pages. The problem though is in low yield use of a toner cartridge. Some toners can become clumpy, and the imaging drum may degrade over time if you aren't using it much. You might spend $60 on a toner cartridge and its no good a year later even though you haven't used it up. If you really want laser this one is a good printer http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/231615/HP-La...
It uses an HP 78A cartridge that is very common, and you can get remanufactured cartridges fairly cheaply for it. Prints about 2000 pages per cartridge
