Why should we Christians pray ?

Is it only to ask God for help ? Are there any other benefits to praying ?

He is our best friend and we want to strengthen and expound on our relationship with him. We also need to tell him we love and appreciate what he does for us. We must give him praise, honor, and glory as he has given us so much. What a glorious, loving God Jehovah is. Prayer is a direct line to him anytime, anywhere. We are the only one who can take it away from us and to stop praying would hurt him and be destructive to us.

When you 'abide' in God. . .you figure out what He's up to. Anyone can say a quick three minute prayer and say "Gimme, gimme, gimme." But who takes quality time away from their most precious schedule to aks God "What you up to up there?" I tell ya what, a person that can spend at least an hour a day tallking to God and figure out what He's up to and what His plans are is BLEST! People don't abide in God so much anymore. There are several benefits to prayer. You can get to know God better and it pleases Him to answer when you're being considerate of Him also.

Prayer is having a conversation with God. It is an awesome gift that God gave to his people. Not to anyone else. He doesn't even listen to anyone else's prayers, let alone answer them.

Prayer is not just for requests. It is also a way to praise our creator and thank Him for whatever we have that is good.

He repeatedly asks us to talk to Him. He wants us to share our thoughts and problems with Him. He is our loving father and wants to help us in any way He can. We only need to remember that prayer must be respectful and in harmony with His will. It is pointless to pray to win the lottery because God does not approve of gambling. Why would He give you something He doesn't approve of?

God does have plans for the world and mankind in general. He does not control the destiny of individuals that would make Him a liar, since he gave us free will to make our own choices.

The Lord's prayer basically covers all the reasons.

    To praise God

Pray for the Kingdom (when God's will shall be done on the earth)

Ask for the necessities of life

Ask for forgiveness and realize that our forgiveness is based on how we forgive others.

Ask for help each day to resist temptation

Then anything else that is on your heart.

The almighty sun-god Ra has commanded of you to pray to him AT LEAST 12 times a day or he will cease to carry the Sun across the sky. That mother is heavy, and he wants to know he's appreciated.

Oh, and a blood sacrifice is required every 2 weeks, just for ghits and siggles.

BTW.... its "us Christians" not "we Christians". Just to let you know good sir or ma'am.
