“YOU must pray, then, this way:

“‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. 10 Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth. 11 Give us today our bread for this day; 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the wicked one.’

14 “For if YOU forgive men their trespasses, YOUR heavenly Father will also forgive YOU; 15 whereas if YOU do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will YOUR Father forgive YOUR trespasses.

    Matthew 6:9-15

O Hearer of prayer, even to you people of all flesh will come

    Psalms 65:2

Our prayers must meet the requirements to be heard as stated at Matthew 6:9-15. Psalms 65:2 tells us that Jehovah is the hearer of prayer. We must prayer to Jehovah in the name of his son Jesus as no one can come to the father except thru the son.

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that, no matter what it is that we ask according to his will, he hears us.

    John 5:14

Not rules, per say, but if your heart is tuned to God you can't help but pray a certain way. With thanksgiving, worship, petition, worship, then thanksgiving.

One word prayers are okay with God. No need to go to preacher school and "intone" lofty prayers full of overflowing biblical phrases with panache, wearing the latest Armani suit with matching tie, belt, shoes, and hankie. "Help!" is just fine with Him. Even naked.

It tells us why, when, and who. The Lord guides us to a better understanding.
