I would have thought that was obvious.

Actually it more like..."Our Father in heaven, your name IS sanctified".

It isn't a request that the world would LET God be sanctified...it is an acknowledgement that God IS sanctified regardless of what the world does. The point is recognizing God's sanctity...otherwise you are casting requests to a God you already doubt is sufficient.

I'd have to agree that there is no point... outside of your personal beliefs. If Jesus is your salvation, then roll with it. You're not going to find a perfect answer when the question involves faith. Just look up the definition.

I'm someone who is envious of faith, as I can not find it.

Faith is really a Christian philosophy, if you don't jive with it; explore other religions. I certainly don't buy into it, it makes no sense... But, religion is a part of our mind, we cannot ignore it, it's necessary for the "whole person" at this point in our evolution. Christian faith just wants so much, faith. In the end it seems faith helps us work around common sense.

I can't tell if that's good or not. Look at wars for the last 2,000 years, religion is a major player.

My analysis tells me that we've bastardized beliefs, and formed them into something that works for our current situation.

It's distorted. I hope you can see that. Find your own path to faith, don't look outside of yourself.

I have failed to find your particular translation of `Sanctified` however when we use the word `Hallowed` it means to be held sacred and holy, therefore Jesus is praying that all will hold the name of God as such,or taken further that all men will hail God as Father.

    God bless.

I'm not even sure what you're asking. "teaching us to say in pray" ? I'm not even finding the translation you are using. So, try to keep as accurate as possible.

The point of prayer is that it's an act of faith. Or faith in action. Faith is a verb in the Greek, so it is something we Christians should do

Three times in YAHUSHUA's prayer (John 17) He affirms the importance of YHVH's name. Ex 23:13 is still in scripture, and thus it is still 'sin' to use the names of heathen mighty ones.

Jesus is teaching us to recognise that there is but One God who is the Sovereign Lord who is merciful because He is our Father , ...all praise to Him

  • that is just a guide.

He didn't say to pray it over and over again

There is no scientific evidence that prayer is effective other than consoling the practitioner.
