Fort collins vs Greeley does Fort Collins also have the livestock smell?

Going to the Greeley area - trying to decide if motel in Greeley or Fort Collins is the best option. Thoughts from locals would be appreciated.

The two cities are a half hour drive apart so If you're going to Greeley just stay on the south side of town, as there's is a major processing plant in the NE corner of the city. Prevailing winds are from the west so you probably won't smell anything anyway. There is a livestock auction yard in Ft. Collins, if you consider 3 miles from town "in town". Besides there are only cattle there on auction days. As far as which is the nicer city, Ft. Collins, hands down, no competition between the two.

I say Fort Collins but thats just because I love Colorado State University. Boulder is more expensive. Fort Collins has been named #2 best city to live in... People in my family work in Boulder but they drive there everyday from the Fort Collins area, so I assume they like the Fort Collins area more. Either town is close enough to the mountains. I am pretty sure they both have about the same climate. I think Boulder is slightly bigger and is a lot closer to Denver but neither town is ridiculously large. Both towns are very much into the arts. Boulder is more liberal but Fort Collins is definatly not hard-core-republican. The LGBT scene: I know there are people like that in both cities. Fort Collins had bars and stuff exclusivly for that. I am not sure about Boulder. As for the activity/dog friendliness: Its Colorado. We are a very fit and active state, you wont be bored on weekends. Dog Friendliness: Its hard to find a town in Colorado that is not dog friendly. I know Fort Collins has multiple dog parks and I see people and their dogs everywhere.

If you are moving to Greeley, staying in Greeley is your best option. The two cities are about a 45 minute drive from each other.

Actually since they moved the feed lots upwind from town, the smell is not nearly as bad as is used to be. I think there are fewer feedlots and processing plants neat Ft Collins but both are agricultural areas so you risk a certain amount of oder depending on wind conditions.

My daughter ( lives there ) says in Ft. Collins it depends on the wind. I have been there several times and I have not smelled it. However Ft. Collins does have meat processing plant there.
