Police messed up on paperwork, can i get the case dropped?

My friend is being charged with assault for shaving off a kids eyebrow. On the paperwork that he signed, it says that it was in a different town ie: we live in High Level, but the papers say that it was signed in High Prairie. Is this enough of a technicality to get the case dropped?

Update:

the point of the matter is that the police messed up on the papers, and that has been used many times to get out of something. I know i've gotten out of a speeding ticket because they wrote the wrong day by accident. Cases can be dropped because things such as messed up paperwork.

    No.

This is not a technicality. This is a typo. Typos are easily corrected and police officers are allowed to correct them.

Speeding tickets are infractions not criminal violations.

These are two completely different things. And the standards are completely different. Shaving off an eyebrow is a misdemeanor assault that can lead to incarceration. A speeding ticket is an administrative issue. You don't get incarcerated for speeding.

    Probably not.

Even if it were dropped, they could just refile charges after correcting the paperwork.

You need better judgement on who you consider a friend.

no that would not matter, the eye brow is still gone......and that is the problem not the wrong town name.
