Did you agree with the Republicans that the phrase "Climate Change" is less frightening than "Global Warming"?
March 2003: "The US Republican party is changing tactics on the environment, avoiding "frightening" phrases such as global warming, after a confidential party memo warned that it is the domestic issue on which George Bush is most vulnerable...
The phrase "global warming" should be abandoned in favour of "climate change", Mr Luntz says, and the party should describe its policies as "conservationist" instead of "environmentalist", because "most people" think environmentalists are "extremists" who indulge in "some pretty bizarre behaviour... that turns off many voters". Ah, an 8 year old article from the Guardian (of the Marxist dialectic) - how topical!
It doesn't matter what you call it (you can call it "Bob" for all I care), the fact remains that the data doesn't support your quasi-religious belief in man-made global warming.

I think the reason that we hear "climate change" more often is because it's more accurate in explaining what is happening to the Earth. When scientists were using the term "global warming," really stupid people were wondering why it was still snowing in the winter. (no joke, numerous Republicans are on record for saying that). The facts are that temperature readings at the equator have indeed been increasing steadily over the past 20 to 30 years by about 1/5th of a degree per year (hence global warming). However, warming at the equator changes evaporation rates in the region, and thus can have an entirely different effect hundreds of miles north and south. Severe storms and hurricanes, which we've seen over the past few years, can be linked to the warming of the equator. Because the word "climate" includes weather as well as temperature, the term "climate change" was deemed more accurate.

The Republican party is not the same one that brought us Dwight Eisenhower, that I voted for and served under proudly. The women of the GOP have more balls than the wimpy men.I would like to see a third party emerge and take over the whole shebang!

The renaming from global warming to climate change was initiated by those proponents who recognized the globe was not warming and were about to be exposed.
They now say climate change as a CYA measure.

I am afraid you have been misguided young one. For the phase you speak of derives from the liberal persuasion of feel good political correctness.
Furthermore, the majority of the right understands the junk science and dismisses man made global warming. Those who educate themselves understand the earth does indeed go through climate cycles.

Just a few years ago the environmentalists were screaming about global cooling. Sure wish they would make up their minds..... and this time warn me before they change back to their "cooling" theory.

Global warming is just more descriptive - the planet is warming. People have some sense of why that might be bad. Climate change is vague. The climate is... changing? Ooh, scary.

A scam to drive up oil prices, force us to buy overpriced green vehicles. However one prefers to call it, our planet has undergone cyclical changes and several mini ice ages. Some of us understand the effects of El Nino and La Nina.

I don't know about it being less "frightening," but global climate change is certainly more accurate.
