Sun Tzu's Art of War?
Considering the time Sun Tzu's art of war was based on conflicts of his time, should it be considered obsolete. My reason for asking his is because in Sun Tzu's time, there were large conflicts between nations consisting of large armies in battles, nowadays, we send in small tactical forces and special forces and equipment like aircraft, seacraft, and spacecraft. So again my question, does Sun Tzu's Art of War still apply to nowadays warfare??

The Art of War is timeless because at the end of the day wars are fought and won with the best trained and disciplined soldiers on the battlefield period. If technology or superior firepower won wars we would have long ago been out of Afghanistan.

His profession in the whole idea was you don't have Unlimited forces, you cant protect all your territory at once, you can only spread your forces out so much an weakens them on a whole for your force, since today we still don't have an infinite army of sorts, an that we have to use less to achieve more means it is even more effective/useful today as military can provide quicker responses.
So No, not obsolete in my opinion for the reason stated above (:

Sun Tzu said "Warfare is the greatest affair of state, the basis of life and death, the Tao of survival or extinction. It must be thoroughly pondered and analyzed."
Since we now just rush into wars without thinking or congress approval... ie Libya.... yes it appears to be outdated.

Yes it completely does. The Art of War is still and always will be the manual of war. It is still used all around the world. Read it, and see for yourself.

Of course it still applies. All of his advice about knowing your enemy still applies and Fu Rin Ka Zan is perfect for small tactical forces. While the players have changed, the game hasn't.
