What's with these nascar drivers?

I thought they were allowed to be big boys and were given big boy rules to run over each other. But they go to Kentucky and act like a bunch of little girls. Complaining about bumps? BS!!! You drive tanks over those things with shocks to absorb them for you. Try driving an IndyCar flat out at 40mph faster (IICS 218mph, stock car 178 mph), no shocks, with the downforce of the car gluing you to the track so you have no chance of avoiding them. Even though IndyCar won't race in Sparta until October, turn on Versus tomorrow at 2pm EST and see some real bumps on the streets of Toronto. None of the drivers complain about the difficulty, the praise and embrace the challenge, like REAL race drivers.

I mean seriously, what is up with these nascar wusses? Quit complaining, grow a pair and race.

Update:

@Winter Glory: I don't know who all was complaining either, it's just been a big topic on the stock car scene and they just need to shut up and drive (IMO). Also, I never said you weren't an IRL fan (which is great to hear), even though it's simply INDYCAR now; I know Yahoo still hasn't gotten the memo. Glad to hear you'll be watching. Should be a great race.

@Nicholas: Though I do appreciate your passion for your series, I completely disagree on everything you said. Stock cars have shocks, whether they're for bumps or not doesn't matter, they have shocks. Yes, stockers are hard to drive, all race cars should be. But 200mph? Stock cars hit 200 in practice maybe a couple times a year, they're lucky to hit 185 in a race at Daytona, while IndyCar drivers run 220+ in most of their oval races (including KY). And there's the whole part about how if IndyCars touch at those speeds, the consequences are usually very very serious (see Brack, Briscoe, Franchitti crashes), NO BUMP DRAFTING HERE,

I seem to remember a lot of complaining a couple of weeks ago when INDYCAR was in Kansas. That one bump in the track took out a third of the field.

They don't really have suspension built for bumps, and as for 'wusses', NASCAR stock cars are notorious for being some of the heaviest, most difficult cars to drive in history. Drivers constantly have to fight the wheel to keep control, usually are in temps of 118+ degrees for four hours or more, and drive 200 mph centimeters or less from another car. There's a reason why Indy drivers and F1 drivers who move to NASCAR, no matter how good they are in the other series, suck wastewater in NASCAR. (Danica Patrick, anyone?)

Edit: That's Daytona, where they have restrictor plates to hold back the horsepower and limit acceleration. At smaller tracks, such as Atlanta and Michicgan, they are going at roughly 200 mph when they go into those corners. And as for consequences of touching...apples to oranges. NASCAR you're talking about an additional ten cars on the track than Indy, so it's going to be much, much tighter. Not to mention, if the pansys in Indy are so spread out they don't touch, well, it makes their drivers a bit more whimpy since a NASCAR driver has the additional mental strain of being in such a tight pack and having someone bump draft them.

There is a big difference in being big boys, and tearing up a very expensive race car. And Indy cars do have suspension, they are called struts. They work the same as shocks. Bumps make it interesting, although I don't think they should be able to wreck a car. And as for racing on the streets, yeah wow, average speed 85 mph..ZZZZZZZZZ.

Two different types of racing, two different types of cars.

You are comparing skateboarding to mountain biking.

    There, I said it....

Source(s): But I digest...... Just my 2 cents.

Jr's the only driver I heard about who complained about the bumps. There may have been others, I don't know.

And what makes you assume that I don't like IRL in the first place?

I do. I have every intention of watching that race.

I didn't see drivers complaining. I heard drivers mentioning the bumps a lot. Big jump from talking a lot about them to "complaining".

I guess it's kinda like how it is when we are juveniles living with our parents. We just can't understand what the real world is like until we cut the apron string. And then we have a right to voice our opinion in our chosen field of employment. Because that is how we govern our destiny.

You go out and drive that fast on that track and lets see if you are complaining after.
