Okay, so not all of these are necessarily set in Denver, but "Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead" is pretty obvious, no?

Things to do in Denver when you're Dead.
Which tells you that Denver is basically a gag city for movies. The Cedar Rapids of 1995.
"nice sized city" this is a way of saying "we're in the top thirty markets, unless you count metro areas, in which case they still don't break the top 20. I'm not bagging on the city when I say the skyline looks like Toledo.

One problem is that Denver isn't quirky or arty, so few budding film makers or scriptwriters plot their first movie there. It isn't Austin or Santa Fe. It isn't even Flint or Xenia.
It's out of town, which often means more expensive.
Cold weather halves your time to film.
It has a very new downtown. You can film a 50s, 60s, 70s, or 80s movie in Cleveland by switching a couple signs and calling a local car club.
They aren't desperate. I'll go with Cleveland again here, as at least part of a spiderman movie was shot in Cleveland, because it is dead easy to shut down a street for the day. Then people thank you for coming to the city and tying up traffic. They give you tax credits and you're allowed primae noctis. with any local news anchor.
Notice the monster list guy? Notice how most of these movies are westerns filmed outside of Denver? Cliffhanger takes place entirely on a mountain, how exactly is that a Denver made or set movie? Was the green screen there?
