Singer 7256 Fashion Mate Keeps Dropping Stitches... Read for More INFO?

I was busy sewing today and all of a sudden my singer started to drop stitches

Okay here is what I have done:

Changed to a new needle (2 times)

Rethread bobbin

Rethread different bobbin

Used different thread and re thread everything.

Cleaned out Bobbin Area

The needle is the same one I have been using for months (but I have changed them out for new ones when they got blunt or dull). I bought my singer on the 15th of May so its not old.

What is going on?? It wont do any other stitches like the Z ones or anything. I only usually use a straight stitch, but I tested the others and nothing.

Oh and its set at Automatic for the tension.

Update:

YES thank you its "skipped stitches".

Its starting to work but its still skipping stitches when you use anything but the straight.

New machines have a 90 free labor and parts warranty. Take your receipt and the machine to your Singer dealer for service. Take a sample of the sewing so they can see what is happening.

EDITED TO ADD: What's the fabric you're sewing on? What size and point style needle are you using? And I'm not sure from your comment about needles if you put in a brand new needle, or just a needle that hasn't been used as much as you think it should last (needles, btw, last about 2-8 hours of needle through fabric time, depending on what you're sewing.)

At the moment, I'm thinking bad needle (yes, they can be bad right out of the package), needle unsuitable for the fabric, fabric flagging or machine a little out of time.

    ------------

    You mean the machine has gone from stitching like _ _ _ _ _ to _ ______ _ ___ _ _ ___ _ or something like that? That's called "skipped stitches".

    Usual causes are:

-- needle in backwards (flat of the needle shank goes to the back of the machine)

-- wrong needle size for the thickness of fabric -- try a needle a couple of sizes larger and see if that helps

-- needle of the wrong point style for the fabric being sewn (sharps for wovens, ballpoints for knits)

-- fabric is "flagging", meaning it bounces up and down with the needle and keeps the stitches from forming -- put some tissue paper above and below the seam and sew through it. Tear off the paper when you're done sewing.

-- thread takeup lever not threaded (the nodding donkey thing)

-- presser foot pressure set too light

-- upper thread tension too high (should be about 4)

-- burr on the needle, or on the sewing hook

-- machine out of time (compare to the diagrams here: http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Repair/Sewing... but let a pro reset your timing if it's out unless you have someone to teach you to do it properly).
