What do you think about that?

Okay, so I know this may sound a little weird but today my stepdad (he's white) was saying that bIack people are more genetically closer to apes than any other race. He also proposed an idea that the reason why we play basketball so much is because its the only way to tame our inner apes. I know it seems racist but don't you think its kind of true in a way? I know whenever I grab my homies and da bball court together to shoot some hoops, it calms me down. When I slam dunk it kind of reminds me of swinging on a vine or climbing a tree. And I always love to refuel with a banana afterwards. Do any other blacks sometimes get this sensation?

Black people ARE genetically closer to apes then white people. They are also genetically closer to my dogs leavings. Look at the color similarities, there is no other explanation. Honestly asking this question is just stupid.

I don't think it's because blacks are more genetically related to apes. I think it's just because they live (or lived) in Africa. Africa has a forest environment. I mean, Africa isn't that civilized. You know, Africans still follow their native ways, performing dances and rituals. Some communities might still hunt animals by chasing them down. Africans might run a lot more than white people in Europe and the US. They are more built for running because of their native ancestors. And I don't mean to be racist in any way. It's obvious that blacks are more athletic and can run faster and farther than other races. You're right, there does seem to be a connection.

no, black people are not closer to apes -

Ardipithecus ramidus was 4.4 million years ago: this was our last common ancestor with chimpanzees. Bipedalism (walking on two feet) evolved in them before they migrated to the savannah out of the trees.

Australopithicus afarensis was 3.7-2.9 million years ago - evolved from A. ramidus, on the savannah floor, in three hominid forms:

    1. H rudolfensis

    2. H boisei

    3. H habilis

H habilis survived, and evolved to become Homo ergaster, which was alive 1.6 million years ago. Of these, there were three separate evolutions:

    H georgicus migrated to Europe

H erectus migrated to Asia China

However some stayed in Africa, and evolved in to Homo heidelbergensis, which were alive 600,000 to 400,000 years ago

It was H. heidelbergensis that later migrated all over europe and africa with a brain as large as our own, with rudimentary language and an outer and inner ear like ours. These then evolved in to two types:

H neanderthalis - that lived beside H. sapiens for years but were outwitted and later died out

    H. sapiens - us

So you see, we arose from EXACTLY the same ancestor. Your stepdad sounds exactly like my own (racist) father, thinking once again of white supremacy. It's a fallacy, and it really annoys me when people make stupid statements like that without being educated on the matter.

And after your last two sentences, this must be some kind of joke, please.
