Best business schools I can get into?

I'm in the class of 2012 (will be a senior in the fall) and I know I want to major in the field of business, unsure of exactly what major. I slacked off freshman year and had really terrible grades, but I've worked hard sophomore and junior year to get my cumulative GPA up to 2.82. I've always been a good test-taker though, so I have a 31 for my ACT score.

These are the schools I'm looking at, and most of them are ranked in the top 100 of Businessweek's best undergraduate business programs 2011. I know I most likely won't be a direct admit anywhere because of my GPA, but I'd like to know which of these are the best I can get into, or if there are any others that I'm more likely to get into. I'm also a Minnesota resident if that makes a difference.

University of Iowa

University of Indiana, Bloomington

Michigan State

Ohio State

University of Minnesota, Twin Cities

University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign

    Hi Christian

For your basic BBA, there is absolutely no academic or financial reason for going out of state or private. Definitely apply to Twin Cities.

Have some backup schools - that is not an impressive GPA and UMTC is highly competitive.

Definitely apply there - just apply to at least 2 other Minnesota public universities - UM-Duluth is quite good, and probably apply to whichever state university is closest to you.

Another route is to attend the local community college for 45 hours and get great grades, then apply to UMTC and probably UM-Duluth to finish your BBA. That way you will be judged on your college record, not what you earned in HS.

As you know, your GPA is likely to keep you from being directly admitted to a top-ranked undergrad b-school but it might not keep you out of the university. Check to see what the process is for admission as a sophomore (see example below for Kelley at Indiana University [note correct name of school], Bloomington) At IU, you'd have to get no grade below a B (not even a B-) your first year to get into Kelley as a sophomore.

As a Minnesota resident, your chances of admission may be greatest at U. Minnesota. After that I would put Ohio State and U. Illinois. Consider applying to branch campuses as a backup, then, if you do well your freshman year you can transfer. Kelley at IU has a branch in Indianapolis at IUPUI. Admission standards for Kelley in Indianapolis are lower than they are for IU Bloomington. (You could get a few C's and still get in).

If you go to any of the Big Ten schools, consider living on an academic floor or in themed housing with other serious students and avoid some of the distractions present on these campuses.

You should also consider the Duluth campus of the University of Minnesota. Your ACT is probably in the middle 50% tile for these schools, but your GPA is kind of low. You might have a better chance at Duluth, but you should still apply to these schools and anything else you might want to go to. US News also has a list of the best business programs too. Check that out.

Your 2.82 GPA means you certainly won't make it to a top tier Business School, and it also suggests you are at high risk of failing whatever college accepts you (or you will emerge with a useless degree and low GPA). A high ACT score coupled with a low GPA merely suggests laziness.

At best, you should be aiming for a decent state college on the basis of your rising GPA, or perhaps a decent specialized business college such as Menlo College.

you may observe to get into the corporation application at Penn State, yet nevertheless be seen an open considerable merely interior the corporation application. then you definately learn in actuality micro and macro and different everyday corporation instructions for the 1st 365 days and quite a number of different the 2nd, then that's once try to be sure which self-discipline you will flow into. declare that then initiate taking top point instructions and head in the direction of your degree. as quickly as you get your bachelor's you may flow lower back on your MBA. additionally, as quickly as you get standard on your college, you may communicate on your consultant for a greater special application you will ought to persist with.

Depends on where you want to be when you graduate: New York University and Columbia are great schools in New York City. Also, some good SUNY (State University of New York) schools are good as well.
