Good question. So far the Republicans want 4 trillion in public sector spending cuts. That is millions of jobs at least.

Sure. Tell them just to vote to raise the ceiling for now without pre-conditions and we'll give em full credit for averting the crises and even form a joint committee to discuss long-range cuts and tax policies we should do over the next 10 years to fix the national debt.

They will lose support. Obama needs to understand he isn't an emperor and our politicians don't have to cave in.
