Does He Like Me. What do you think?

Me and this kid John have been friends for over 3 years and have dated on and off in those 3 years. Now he is starting to want to hangout a lot. He calls me every night and we talk for over 2 hours. He tells me he loves me, calls me baby, babe, beautiful. He sent me a text saying

" I love how you are beautiful and we can talk over 2 hours each night and you're so nice.. that's what i need in a best friend and significant other."

I don't know if he is just being friendly or if he actually is growing feelings for me. What do you think?

I forgot to mention that I really like him and have not lost feelings for him throughout these 3 years of knowing him (:
