Will Social Security take down Obama? Who's really at fault?

Yesterday Obama stated that he couldn't guarantee that the Social Security checks would go out, that affects a sizable block of voters. As a group, seniors seem to be a block that takes voting seriously, proud to where that pin that proclaims "I voted". As it takes something major to unseat an incumbent, wall street crash, 100+ hostages held for over a year, is this a big enough event? When SS was started it was supposed to be a separate entity, now its become part of the annual budget, while it may be the fault of previous administration, or sitting Republicans, the seniors will blame the lack of checks on the guy in the Oval Office. Who started the borrowing from SS that caused it to become insolvent?

First, Black Angelo's answer is in simple terms pinning the blame for each little thing going incorrect on Bush, in simple terms as each democrat interior the rustic does..i'm particular you, questioner, think of the comparable judging via your for sure liberal perspectives of your own question. Bush failed at alot of issues, yet Mr. Obama is failing besides. you are able to comprehend that his judgements for the financial device are counter efficient. you are able to't run socialist schemes to keep the capitalist financial device. Obama believes that extra government involvement is extra suitable, and this is glaring in case you examine something he says. regrettably, this u . s . replaced into equipped upon the perception that much less government involvement replaced into extra suitable. i think of this is you that desires to get a clue. supply up listening to each little thing the government tells you. attempt performing slightly diagnosis, you will see that Obama's stances are counterproductive.

If those checks don't go out its because obama doesn't want them to. The government get 200 billion a month in tax money. Social Security checks are 49 billion a month, obama just spreading fear.

    What President Obama said was:

“Social Security payments and veterans' checks, among other payments, could be at risk if negotiators don't reach a deal to raise the debt limit above $14.3 trillion by Aug. 2. That's when the Treasury Department says the government will stop being able to borrow money.”

"I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on August 3rd if we haven't resolved this issue, because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it,"

THAT IS CALLED TELLING THE TRUTH!

If debt ceiling legislation does not get passed it will be John Boehner the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Harry Reid Senate Majority Leader, and the other leaders of the legislative branch’s fault not President Obama’s.

It no longer matters who started it. The fact is instead of cutting funding terrorist groups, paying back political cronies, pork laden projects (shrimp on treadmill? Lady Gaga sent overseas to perform?), our government has taken to frightening people into supporting them. It's sickening.

how is the debt crisis his fault? Wall Street crashed the banks. Republicans slashed oversight protections. Bush dumped trillions into an ill-advised war. Yet this is Obama's fault?

SSI is not connected to the debt at all. Postal service is. No postal service, to mail. no mail no checks. Blame the republicans for not trying to fix the problem.

No, but it will take down a lot of Republicans if they keep trying to cut it. Even conservatives in the middle class and lower class knows what this program means to their future. Only the wealthy couldn't care less.

Seniors wouldn't blame that on Obama. They are smart enough to be paying attention and realize it's the GOP that is holding up negotiations with their refusal to compromise.
