Why do we need to raise the debt ceiling?

Update:

Our obligations could be less if we as a country stayed away from social programs..thanks liberals

    If we don't raise the debt ceiling, Democrats won't be able to FORCE their children into deeper debt and closer to involuntary default. That is long-proved to be the #1 priority of ALL Democrats.
