John Cabot named it America,after Richard Americk a Welsh born merchant who traded out of Bristol,and funded his voyage across the Atlantic.

Martin Waldseemüller was the first to use the term. He was a cartographer and on a map he made named it America after Amerigo Vespucci because he was wrongly informed that Vespucci had been the one to discover the Americas.

Pam and Erica were friends, they formed a business partnership and named their business Pamerica, later they named it America because it sounded better.
