mum had said in passing to her new "male friend" on skype that she could here me moving about upstairs.
this fella then said "she's probably got her ears to the floor listening in". or something to that effect anyway. bare in mind also that he hasnt met me and only knows what mums told him
its not mum im worried about, she's the type to say little things like i'm upstairs and she can hear me. it's what he's said thats got to me. he doesn't know me and he basically accused me of listening in to what they are saying
actually mum doesnt know how to shut the door when she's skyping so you can hear it through most of the house. its so annoying i have to shut doors myself so i dont hear

Perhaps they wanted to be intimate and your mom feared you listening in on them. It is very likely that that was the case. I can't think of any other reason why they would care that you were around.

Maybe he was trying to find a way to acknowledge your mom's apparent concern that you were moving about upstairs.
It all sounds pretty creepy if you ask me.
