potential track car, just a bit of fun or total waste of money?

ok, so I've had a couple of cars over the last few months as "projects", cars that I had as a young lad and now older was reliving my youth a bit, astra gte, escort xr3i and most recently golf gti 16v. Sold the cars and now have been offered a 2000 fiesta zetec s which has been modified for track days. It's quite cheap (under £300) but needs a little work (exhaust blowing), holes in floor, but comes with proper rollcage, track wheels etc. etc. Am I buying a lot of fun to put round a novice track on a weekend or am I buying a load of scrap (even at £300).
