mtg refraction trap question?

opponent bolts my steppe lynx and i refract trap it to his warren instigator, he then plays apostle's blessing to his warren instigator. so what will be the outcome?

my opponent tells me refractions fizzles and he still gets to bolts my steppe lynx.

is that correct?

    Incorrect. First the Refraction Trap prevents damage then it deals damage to a creature or player. This is all during the resolution of the spell so cannot be responded to. If your opponent wanted to save his creature he would have to play Apostle's Blessing on his creature in response to your Refraction Trap being played but before it resolves, which means you would have to choose a different target for the damage, your opponent or another creature in play.

    The Refraction Trap would never fizzle because it still prevented the damage regardless of what happened after that damage was prevented.
