    Can Guinea Pigs Eat Peppers

Of course! :D Actually green bell peppers are one of the best of the colors to give to guinea pigs because they have the lowest amount of sugars. But all bell peppers in general are very good for guinea pigs because they are high in vitamin C, which guinea pigs need, since they can not produce their own vitamin C like many animals can. Red peppers are actually the sweetest, so they have a lot of sugar. But they make great treats.

This is a great website to visit for guinea pig help http://theanimalsguide.webs.com/ It is new, but is updated every day. There is an article on vegetables in the blogs section http://theanimalsguide.webs.com/apps/blog. It is an all animals forum, but there is a big guinea pig section. Hope it helps.

    Good luck

they like an endless volume of hay (Timothy, Orchard, Bluegrass) on a daily basis as nicely as clean water on a daily basis. additionally they like a great fortfied pellet w/out all of the crappy colored products in it. and that they like a great form of vegetables. some good vegetables are lettuces (no iceberg-it could reason diarrhea) like pink lettuce, green leaf lettuce, romaine lettuce; green/pink/yellow peppers, cilantro, cucumber, grape tomatoes, infant carrots, vegetables (like collard or mustard), parsley, celery (decrease up into very small products), and apple (a million-2x in line with day). i desire this helps. you may get greater the help of those sources Guinea Pig Cages and Guinea Lynx. good success!

Yes; orange, yellow, and green bell peppers are just fine and a great source of vitamin c which guinea pigs need every day. Red bell peppers have the most vitamin c concentration. Guinea pigs, like us humans cannot supply their own vitamin c.A healthy guinea pig should be getting at least 15 to 25mg per day. Pregnant guinea pigs need to be given extra vitamin c to prevent scurvy in both the pups and the mother, 30mg should be given to pregnant guinea pigs or you can use the rule off 5 mg per pound. Sick and/or injured guinea pigs need at least 100mg per day until fully recovered. Don't worry about giving to much vitamin c as it will be expelled during urination. Vitamin c can be given through veggies and fruit such as:

1cup of sweet fresh red bell peppers= 283.1mg

1cup of fresh sweet green bell peppers= 119.8mg

    1cup of fresh strawberries= 97.6mg

    fresh oranges= 95.8mg

    1cup of fresh papaya= 86.5mg

    1cup of raw broccoli=78.5mg

    1medium of fresh kiwi fruit= 70.5mg

    1cup of fresh cantaloupe 58.7mg

    1cup of fresh pineapple= 56.1mg

    1cup of fresh mangos= 45.7mg

    1cup of cooked chinese cabbage= 44.2mg

    1cup of raw red cabbage= 39.9mg

    1cup of cooked turnip greens= 39.5mg

    1/2 of fresh white grapefruit= 39.3mg

1/2 of fresh pink or red grapefruit= 38.4mg

    1cup of cooked beat greens= 35.9mg

    1cup of cooked mustard greens= 35.4mg

    1cup of cooked collards= 34.6mg

    1cup of fresh raspberries 32.2mg

    1cup of cooked rutabagas 32mg

1cup of fresh honey dew melon=30.6mg

    1cup of fresh blackberries= 30.2mg

    1wedge of watermelon= 23.3mg

    1cup of fresh tomatoes=22.9mg

    1cup of fresh cabbage= 22.5mg

    1cup of fresh summer squash= 19.2mg

    1cup of dandelion greens= 18.9mg

    1cup of cooked turnips=18.1mg

    1cup of cooked spinach=17.6mg

1cup of fresh red or green grapes=17.3mg

Make sure you are giving your guinea pig at least a cup of fresh greens everyday and unlimited grass hay. Note: fruit should be fed no more than 2 times a week; it is naturally high in sugar. Also, alfalfa hay should only be fed to young pups (under 3 months), sick animals, and pregnant animals~ alfalfa hay is high in calcium and is fattening. If given to much, may cause bladder stones and/or U.R.I. (urinary tract infection). Hope I helped :) for other info www.guineapigcages.com or guinealynx.info are great resources! :)
