Should WE BE Forgiving to Sociopaths?
who kill, and rape?
Just curious if God created them with this brain chemistry and we are all God's children don't you think we should be more forgiving as God would be?
I am NOT saying this behavior should be allowed, but just think they are born this way, and do not know right from wrong.

Individuals who have antisocial personality disorder (popularly called "sociopaths") are not "born that way". The diagnostic criteria for that disorder is 1)a pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of others since age 15. Persons who have this disorder are characterized by failure to conform to social norms and lawful behaviors, and perform acts that lead to arrest. They are knowingly deceitful by repeatedly lying and conning others for personal profit. They are physically aggressive and assaultive to others, they have reckless disregard for safety, they are consistently irresponsible by refusing to work, they have no remorse, and they continually rationalize what they do to others (having hurt, mistreated or stolen from others). This is the medical/psychiatric definition in the DSM-IV. In other words, their behaviors are learned behaviors--not a form of dementia or brain disorder such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. It is not congenital, and it doesn't exist at birth. It is not "brain chemistry" that causes their behaviors, but circumstances and examples they have learned from. Very often, children of alcoholics or drug addicts will grow up to have these traits because of the way they were emotionally/physically and sometimes sexually abused. We should be willing to pray for them because of the distance they have placed between God and themselves; we are supposed to forgive any and all sins. That doesn't mean we have to naively let a person like this take advantage of us. All we can do is pray that God would change their hearts.

I think my name says it all. God gave mankind second chance, and to always turn the other cheek. But, it truly is up to the person to forgive the other person. Personally, I think if they keep on doing it over and over again, im not sure I could keep on forgiving them. They had chances after chances, and they kept on blowing them. I think the only type of people who dont know right from wrong are those who are mentally handicapped, other than that, people know right from wrong. So, only if they asked for forgiveness from the lord and learned their lesson, would I ever think of forgiving them.

We should be forgiving to everyone who has committed sins.
They "Crucified" Jesus, whipped him, tortured him, and nailed him on a cross, but while he hung on the cross dying he still FORGAVE THEM.
The spirits are God's children, the flesh bodies are at war with the spirit that lives within, however the flesh can only do that which the spirit allows it to do. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.

they know it is wrong to kill and rape ect. they do it because they want to not because they don't know any better
do yourself a favor and do some reasearch on the subject before you post your ignorance all over the board.

There are too many people out there with no souls to speak off. No amount of rehabilitation is going to make them safe to be around other people. They don't change. My answer is "no".

You'd have to define forgiving. I think everyone should be forgiving to anyone that's truly repentant. Of course that doesn't mean they should be absolved of penalties.

Sociopaths don't care whether you forgive them or not, so what good would it do?

I don't believe in forgiving evil acts, neither does society and neither does God. Let us prey....for true wisdom.

torture is an inappropriate punishment. self defense is a moral imperative as is defense of those entrusted to you. prison has nothing to do with forgiveness or blame, it has to do with self defense.

I don't think sociopaths were BORN that way...they suffered some sort of trauma that made their brain go crazy, so their thoughts are effed up.
