Shouldn't we all pay taxes as part of our fair share?

Nearly half don't pay taxes if they start paying won't help?

Why should the burden all go to the rich instead of those who use more of the services of the government?

This is the reason for the flat tax. No deductions, no loopholes and everyone pays into the system. If everyone gets services from the government then the only fair thing is for everyone to contribute into the system.

It's easy to tell that you don't pay any taxes. For me I pay enough already and I'm not paying anymore. I know that the rich feel the same way. Those that live off of the government should be made to do government jobs for free or do without. A flat tax would end all of our tax problems and take the control of our lives away from liberal democrats.

Perhaps we should pay tax in proportion to the benefit received. As a business owner (R&D lab with manufacturing subsidiary), I benefit by having roads and ports to move parts and finished goods. I benefit from public health, a supply of highly educated workers, as well as research done at national labs and universities. Law enforcement, fire and national defense are like an insurance policy: maybe we should pay in proportion to the amount insured rather than income. I am willing to pay my fair share for the services that I benefit from, but I want to see that my contribution is well spent without waste and corruption. I do not benefit from social programs and do not want to pay for them.

That depends on what you consider "more of the services". If you mean the billions of dollars corporations get in welfare in this country, sure I think they should pay more. If you mean the people at the bottom of the scale, how much do you think people who are barely scraping by should pay so that those at the top shouldn't have to pay more?

Imagine that you have an economy made up of 154 people and a total income of $1000. Then put in these figures: Four of those people control $600 of that money. That's $150 a piece. 150 of them control $400. That makes $2.67 a piece. How much do you think the lower 150 should pay to keep those 4 people from paying more?

There's a reason why those people don't pay taxes. It's called poverty!

The poor, well they are poor and can't afford to pay any taxes. A good portion of the middle class is either underemployed or just barely getting by paycheck to paycheck.

Just look at the larger picture in this recession. Most of the public would have to somehow pay more, while the top 2% simply gets richer.

That's why I support a flat tax. The lower income people who don't pay taxes (and actually get more money from the government via the EIC), are the users of the system. They use but don't contribute. They need to pay their fair share.

the idea that the wealthy use fewer government services is absurd. The bulk of civil government is employed in protecting property, and those who hold the most property receive the greatest share of this service

    Nope.

How about this, how about we quit spending money on all the BS pork crap and global warming "research."

    I need my money.

EDIT: BS, I don't pay federal taxes because of legitimate deductions, not loopholes. Cons start sounding like liebrals when they whine about paying taxes.

    Taxed Enough Already!

Agreed . Many of the 47 % who pay no taxes do so with LOOPHOLES not available to us the working guys .. It is not just the poor that pay no taxes ..

Liberals think its unfair for THEM to pay taxes

that's why John Kerry, after buying his Australian made yacht, registered it out of state to avoid the tax
