Have you considered calling your local Social Security Administration office in your city or checking their website http://www.ssa.gov/ ? One answer will not fit all. The answer you get will be based on your work and contribution history.

If they are currently on disability they will continue to get Social Security Disability Income, but it varies from person to person.

My wife was on disability, she was also eligible for disability from her pension plan, in addition she could also draw on her regular pension. If she chose to take her regular pension, when she turned 65 both her company disability and regular pension would come to an end and she would have went on her regular social security. If she chose not to take her regular company retirement, she would then be eligible to draw it when she turned 65. Since she knew she most likely would not live to be 65 she rolled her regular pension over into her 401K.

At FULL retirement age (not 62) it is paid out of a different fund, but you will not notice any difference. It will still arrive, or be deposited under "U.S.Treasury"
