Palindrome being a phrase spelled the same forward or backward, like:

-Race fast safe car.

    I think just about everyone knows what a palindrome is, but there are people out there who've never heard of one.

    No. Can't really think of any others than that one and 'Madam, I'm Adam' from the totally cliche joke.
