Is infatuation with certain movies ect.. common amongst those with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?
I find myself becoming obsessed with certain movies like Donnie Darko, (500) Days of Summer, ect.. and other things, objects, people (sometimes even characters) to the point where it seems to be unhealthy and consumes a lot of the space in my mind. I remember my dreams every night and they're extremely vivid and almost always about one of these infatuations.
Sometimes I wish the things I'm infatuated with didn't exist so I didn't have to deal with the heartache of them not actually being there constantly and sometimes I scare myself with the connections I feel with certain characters, inanimate objects, ect.. and I feel silly most of the time because movies aren't real.
I have a friend who says she experiences the same as I do.
I am diagnosed with OCD and I'm seeing a psychiatrist weekly and I'm on medication.
(sorry if this is kind of rambling ahh)

I was obsessed with both of the movies you mentioned too. Inception is the most recent. I do not have OCD but I AM lonely, anxious and often depressed. I think if you cannot ask your psychiatrist this question, it's time to find a new one! That said, we fill voids with the things we enjoy and as long as it isn't imposing on you living, what is the harm? I think it's more OCD to obsess about being obsessed right? I'm coming from a place of understanding by the way :)
