Wanted to know my blood type?
Saw an ad on tv by the Red Cross to know your blood type. Asked my doctor what my blood type is he wouldn't tell me. Said it's not a good idea because if i was in an accident and gave them the wrong type it could kill me. Can he refuse to tell me?

That was a shocking answer, your Doctor should never refuse to give you personal information of that sort. You have every right to know these facts, all information held on your doctors files can be shared with you - thats the Law! So, the answer to your question is 'NO' your doctor should discuss this with you at your request. If your Doctor persists, contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau and they will help you, as well as making the local authorities aware of this persons behaviour.

No, he can't refuse to tell you. You have the right to your medical information and that includes blood type. If you got into an accident and lost a lot of blood, your blood will always be tested beforehand.

There are home blood type kits you can use. You can also donate blood and they'll send you a card in the mail with your blood type.
Your doctor is being ridiculous.

there is no point in knowing your blood type.
If you were in an accident and needed blood the medics would always test your blood to make certain of your type. They would not trust what they were told.
