is it possible to hold my canary?
I have a really hyperactive canary and if i ever put my hand in the cage he freaks out, flies around the cage and his heart beats really fast..i want to clip his nails as well as clean the cage but i don't think i can even touch him, help!

yes its possible to hold them.
but, in what way? just grabbing them and make them feel scared and helpless?
or taming them and let them come to you?
you need to calm your canary, let it live in a calm room, and you frequently visit the bird. while occasionally putting your hand in the cage.
at first it will freak out but in days it'll calm down.
younger canaries are easier to tame

Yes but they are not the type of bird that wants to be held or tolerates it well.
Since you bought one u should know that they are not friendly birds like parrots or budgies.. they are really just for show. Most birds dont want to be held but is is possible u could train it to go on ur finger just try to spend more time with it.
** If i was u i would take it somewhere to get it nails cut lke a vet
