  • I'm addicted to sugar but it's not the way it seems!?

Okay, let me give you a quick run-down of the situation.

My mum loves fruit, all types of fruit, so we buy quite a lot of fruit per week from the grocery store.

I used to be unaware of the high fructose content of fruit so would eat around 3-5 pieces a day (I know, it's a crazy amount!).

Also, I love dark chocolate but I've never been the type to snack/binge on junk food...if I want sugar, I'll have a cube of chocolate or a cookie here or there.

But my mum sometimes brings sugary things home (I think she only recently discovered the joys of sugar haha) and when there is a large amount of anything sweet, I 'binge'...not in the sense where I eat crazy amounts and puke later (no wayyyy) but I become really ravenous and gobble down a few spoonfuls of cake etc without being able to control it!! To others, it probably seems stupid that I am worrying but I don't want the out of control love affair with sugar!

I've cut down on fruit considerably and I can NEVER completely cut out dark chocolate..but how do I keep myself from bingeing like that? And do you know why it happens?

  • How do you get someone to stop talking to you?

Me and my 21 year old sister have been fighting on a verryyyy regular basis for as long as I can remember. EVERY little thing creates a stupid argument full of anger and frustration. So my mother suggested one day that I just completely stop talking to her and I felt really quite content at the end of the day. The more I didn't say, the less material she had to cause a stir.

But the only problem is, my sister is extremely immature and everytime I decide it's time to stop talking (I know, don't tell me that's not the way you work something out, I've tried absolutely everything!!) she goes into 'Let's play a game' mode. She'll try to say things to aggravate me, she'll ask me questions and stand there for a minute expecting an answer, she'll get super pissed off that I won't reply etc. It's really quite annoying coz she sees it as some sort of punishment but all it is is me getting less anxious and angry all day long sue to her behaviour. HELP!

  • Should I stay or should I go?

I am stuck in a really difficult situation.

Let me give some background info:

I'm 19, never seen any member of my father's side who live in Turkey, never even seen my grandmother and grandfather.

I've never been to Turkey but have seen all of my mum's family because she paid for them to come here.

My dad always says I should talk to my family in Turkey (I live in Australia) but I feel like, he didn't care enough to send me there as a kid and they clearly don't care enough to ring me so why should I bother?

My grandfather died last year, I never got to see him and that made me sad for a while but I learnt to get over it. Now grandmother is old and sick and I was thinking of going with dad this January.

    But here's the problem:

    1) I've been working really hard to pay off my ticket and I feel like it's just way too expensive (I'll be losing all my savings to get there)

    2) It'll be the middle of winter and it's in a village where nothing happens other than stay at home and occasionally go to the shops with some family..and eat and watch tv (in summer there are beaches and everything..)

    3) None of my cousins will be there, I have at least 10 that I may not see until a few years later when I go back so I'm basically just going to visit my sick gran.

    4) My autistic aunt has a brain tumour and this will really depress me and make the whole experience depressing.

So should I go or should I just go another time? I know it'll be sad if something happens to my gran but I just don't know.

  • Everytime we fight, I cry, I seriously can't help it!!?

Me and my sister basically fight everyday, as sisters, I don't think we'll ever get along, things just never ever sort themselves out. When the conflict isn't resolved, I get this intense feeling of anger inside and tears just start flowing out. I don't necessarily feel that much better but I've been this way for as long as I can remember. Instead of going for a run as some do, or writing my emotions down, I cry. And I'm 19, I just want to stop crying over everything.

I'm super sensitive and I have an anxiety disorder, could this have something to do with it?!

  • What's a really great idea for a short story!?

My uni/college is having their annual submission of 'short story, creative non-fiction, poetry, travel, screenplay, etc' and I really want to submit something. I'm a pretty good descriptive writer but my lack of creativity will make this a hard task. I'm studying to become an editor so it'd also be good in my CV.

Any ideas on what people find interesting these days?

I'd prefer to do a short story, but any suggestions would be great!

  • She drives me insane!!!?

My sister has got to be the strangest person on this planet. She's older than me and our ages are quite close but we don't get along AT ALL. When she feels like hugging me etc...it literally hurts! For instance, she'll hug me and basicallly choke me at the same time (unintentionally but still!) and when I push her away all she can manage to say is 'piss off, psycho bleep'...that is just one tiny instance (it just happened) but she gets into fights with me about absolutely EVERYTHING.

I know I show her quite a bit of attitude but she doesn't try to rectify situations either, so I end up giving up and back chatting...

How the hell do you control your anger and shut your mouth when you have a delusional maniac living with you??

There is literally not one day where we don't fight, i'm getting really exhausted over the constant arguments these days...

  • mobile phone health risks?

I have done a lot of research on cell phones and radiation and I know that it does, even if not necessarily negatively, affect the activity of our brains and body cells.

I also know that I and almost everyone I know uses their phone to some degree per day, even if just for texting.

This technology is so recent that people cannot possibly claim they do not have risks and something will hopefully be done to stop this ignorance!

What do you think? And are there any headphones that cut out radiation completely?

  • What should I expect of this cake!?

Call me crazy but I didnt have access to an oven so this is what I did with my cake batter:

I placed boiling water in a large pot and placed a cake tin inside and covered that with foil and put the lid on the pot. Now what should I expect to see when the cake is ready? Scrambled eggs or would this work? It was a loose batter.

  • humans to live to 1000 years?

I just read a crazy article about how humans 'soon' will be able to live up to 1000 years old! I thought i was a stupid idea which is not even worth getting into coz i think scientists should be focussing on more important things (curing infectious diseases, poverty etc). What do you guys think?

    Here's the article: http://health.ninemsn.com.au/healthnews/8269072/hu...

I have been reading on pesticides and although most people keep quiet about the dangers to human beings, if it is bad for the environment, surely it is doing us harm! Is there any way to wash pesticides off fruit and vegetables?
