If you are into Apple products, you can try the Macbook Air or the MacBook Pro.
The MacBook Air is VERY light and slim. It is very easy to carry around, long battery life and it thinks and acts like a normal thick MacBook. The problem is is that the MacBook air does not have a CD drive, and it only has 1 USB port. So, you are going to have to get an external disk drive and an external USB port (if you think you need one).
Otherwise, I think that the MacBook Air is good for traveling.
Heres a good site on a review for the MacBook Air. http://dailygadgetreview.net/2011/03/14/13-inch-ma...
The MacBook Pro is also very slim and sleek. I have the MacBook Pro and I am very pleased with it. It's fast, it's got long battery life. To me it's an amazing laptop, and I recommend it!
Here are 2 reviews on the new MacBook Pro!

There are also some other good brands like Acer laptops.
Acer laptops are also good, my brother has one and it does not heat up and has a long battery life.
But really, I think the MacBook Pro is the best!!! (:

If you prize portability and battery life over power, choose the MacBook Air (though wait at least a few weeks. Rumor has it they will be updated soon and you don't want to be angry at yourself for not waiting just a little longer for a better product).
If you want more power and storage at the expense of some portability, choose the MacBook Pro.
Either way you'll be happy.

Toshiba grew to become into between the 1st mainstream laptops provided interior the U. S.. Toshiba is prevalent for having sturdy and good hardware. i might propose procuring a used Toshiba satellite tv for pc off of Craigslist for decrease than $500 (verify it has the reformat disk lined so which you would be able to erase each thing and initiate off new) lots of the others like Dell and Acer have been prevalent to apply much less high priced factors to furnish a low cost.

I say go with the Macbook Air, weight is never an issue with that computer, you will want to check your bag often to see if you still have it because its that light and it gets 7-10hrs depending on if you are connected to the internet.
