How to stop my dog escaping? Help please!?

I have a 1 year old desexed boxer cross staffi, I bought her when she 21/2 months old from a shelter and we thought then she was englishx american staffi and would be a small - medium sized dog. We have a large dog yard with wire fencing that we have reinforced with dog wire. it started as an average farm fence height, she grew and jumped over it, we went up to 6 foot, which she grew and jumped over, I have just added an extra 2 foot and today guess what? she jumped it! I can't go any higher and still keep the fence stable. I cant afford a 12 foot fence proffessionally installed and I am not confident that she would not find a way over anyway! I am at my wits end. I love her to pieces and it is not safe for her to be out. We live in a rural area and if she runs on to a sheep farm they will shoot her. I am keeping her tied up at the moment but this is not a long term solution, a dog her size needs alot of exercise and a walk is not enough, she needs to be able to run around.

Does any one know how i can keep her in her yard?

Update:

she kind of leaps, hangs for a second from the top and then pulls herself over if that makes sense?

Update 2:

Maybe I should enter her in one of those dog athletics, jumping trial shows lol!

You have several options. Your dog is apparently bored being in the yard. You can put an overhang on the top of the fence, similar to the overhang on fences found at prisons, however that can be very costly. You can put up an enclosed exercise pen inside your yard that she can stay in when you are not able to be out with her to watch her. You also can find some obedience or agility classes to attend. It sounds like she would be fantastic in agility or obedience. You also have the option of installing a low voltage electric fence at the top of your current fence. You can do that yourself and find the necessary items at any farm or feed store in the livestock section. Since you got her from a shelter, I assume she is spayed but if not, you may want to consider that option too. Personally, I'd opt for the obedience/agility work and an enclosure with a top so she can't escape. She will look forward to coming out and "working" with you in her own yard. Check around your area for a kennel club, obedience club or an agility club. Your dog might even like dock diving or weight pulling. She sounds like she's pretty athletic and needs more to keep her "busy!"

Add some type of over hang on your fence might sound weird but if your dog can jump an 8 foot fence I'm not sure what you can do lol.

we've a similar situation and have merely spent a fortune on fencing. She desires consistent interest interior the backyard then she will have the skill to be taught to stay positioned. attempt treating her while she is going close to the hedge and is derived returned. some canines merely like to discover so dont get dissatisfied cos she will have the skill to relax down and be taught to stay close to.

You can try to train her but if she could jump 8 feet, wow, amazing, i don't think you can do much. Well at least she does not climb the fence unlike my dog. and to Vad that is terrible!!! animal cruelty!!! seriously!!! >:|

First put a thick yellow line all around your yard, then about 5 meters away put a thick red line surrounding the yellow one. Then get your dog to swallow a small device that attaches itself to the dog's nerve bundles.

If it crosses the yellow line it will feel intense pain, if it crosses the red line.. it will set off a small explosion.

Source(s): Saw it on a documentary called "Fortress" It didn't actually work in the film. But that's because people are too smart.. it should work on dogs.

We had the same problem. Eventually we got electric fencing. Unless your dog is very stupid, she won´t even try climbing over that.
