All Laptops cannot connect to wireless network but portable devices can? Please Help?

Please help , We have a belkin N1 wireless router , all the portable devices such as Nintendo ds , welll PS3 , iphone and such can connect to the network while all laptops can't I even tried to borrow my friends laptop but still same thing happened please help , we really need the internet.

Update:

Well sorry - Laptop is a portable device but the portable devices i am talking about are nintendo ds iphone and exclude ps3 but ps3 is able to connect. Internet does work in the laptops although we have to use a cable. The router is discoverable but we cant connect to it. we tried 6 laptops and all did not work

Update 2:

all LAPTOPS running in windows vista and the router is discoverable and the network is in full signal although whenever we try to connect , it said we cannot connect so I clicked the repair button and it said make sure its in range or something but its in range... ughhh

    It is probably to do with the security in your router.

    It is probably set for WEP access, which things like your phone etc will connect to without any issues. This is not very secure and send passwords in plain text.

    Your laptops OS willl want the security to be WPA, as it sees WEP as too week. Check online for Wireless security and WPA.

    What laptops? What OS?

    What encryption.

    What error messages?

    Does the router work with a cable?

    You tried two laptops and they didn't work. So you assume all laptops won't work? My laptop is on a wireless network.
