The point of living is what happens in your life between being born and dying. Life is a gift that you have been offered. Open your eyes, unwrap the gift and enjoy.

The alternative is irrevocable - suicide is final where choosing to live, even for a few more seconds, is not. Entropy is a one way street. If you're asking an abstract philosophical question that's my best answer. If you're asking a personal one, why should you live, my answer is go risk your life. When you are in the position where you genuinely think you might die you realize how much you want to live, how strong is not only the instinct but the desire for life. It doesn't take a very serious risk to give you a look at this feeling.
This question phrased differently was described by Albert Camus as the only important philosophical question: 'why should I not commit suicide?'

Define "purpose".
"1.
the reason for which something exists or is done, made, used, etc."
The same reason inorganic objects exist. A heart and eyes don't make us special.
Why there's life: In natural science, abiogenesis (pronounced /ˌeɪbaɪ.ɵˈdʒɛnɨsɪs/ ay-by-oh-jen-ə-siss) or biopoesis is the study of how biological life arises from inorganic matter through natural processes, and the method by which life on Earth arose. Most amino acids, often called "the building blocks of life", can form via natural chemical reactions unrelated to life, as demonstrated in the Miller–Urey experiment and similar experiments that involved simulating some of the conditions of the early Earth in a laboratory. In all living things, these amino acids are organised into proteins, and the construction of these proteins is mediated by nucleic acids, that are themselves synthesized through biochemical pathways catalysed by proteins. Which of these organic molecules first arose and how they formed the first life is the focus of abiogenesis.
"2.
an intended or desired result; end; aim; goal."
Life forms such as bacteria have no intention or goal. The meaning of human life is desire itself. Which makes your wonder, what do we desire? We desire happiness, pleasure, freedom from pain, and freedom suffering. That doesn't mean the things we desire bring us pleasure, but it is our intention. Some people desire things that bring them little pleasure and lots of suffering. The reason they pursue those thing is because they're either deluded, and/or don't have enough willpower. Take a heroin addict for example.
To put it simply:
1. We're here because of biogenesis (hasn't been fully proven). Why any inorganic matter exists is unknwoable.
2. The goal is to maximise pleasure and happiness, and minimise suffering and pain.

I don't think there is a point in life as a whole, but individually, life is what you perceive it to be so you pretty much make your own point. the best we can do is to focus on being the happiest you can be, i guess that's the point lol. (mine anyways)

what's the point of not living? you can ask open-ended questions like that but it gets you nowhere. when you're gone, you've still left your mark on the world. it's up to you what that mark should be

what do you mean it just contradicts? WHAT contradict .
you can't live if you are dead, so what do you suggest people do apart from live if they are NOT dead?
lay down and play dead lions?

The
Point
Is
To
Know
What
Life
Feels
Like
And
To
Know
Something.

idk if you're into books but if you are then look through Power vs. force and trancending the levels of conciousness. I got really into them a few months ago and my life has already changed. :D
