Payment Rejected, using visa debit card?

Is it possible to shop online using a debit card (HSBC)?

If so why did it not work for me, i have enough cash in account, i entered right details but it said payment rejected..

Is it possible for banks to limit some cards to offline purchases only so they could charge you to use it online?

Thanks

Check with HSBC, ESPECIALLY if it's a new card ...

I believe some Banks are 'blocking' new cards from on-line use (where all you have to enter is the CVV digits) until you have used them in the 'real world' (where you have to enter your PIN = since this 'proves' you have received the card, rather than it having been 'lost in the post') == other banks require you to ring them up (from your registered phone line) and 'activate' new cards ..
