Which color-enhancing shampoo to use for a bay roan?

I'm going to start showing a roan Clydesdale filly in hand, but I'm not sure which color-enhancer to use. She's more on the bay side, but has a lot of white spots through her coat, plus her face, mane, tail, and feathers. If I use red shampoo on her body, it kind of makes the white spots disappear and she loses that flash. Obviously, I'm going to use purple on her face and feathers, but what do I do to keep the roaning apparent but the coat still red? And do I use purple in her main and tail to have the white stand out?

Unless the horse is very sun bleached, you don't really need to use a darkening shampoo. If she is really sun bleached, go ahead and use it, but try to stay away from the spots. Scrub the shampoo, and rinse. After that, get a whitening shampoo, and try to put it in he general area of where the spots are. They scrub it, and the white stops will show through. You may have to do this a few times, as getting red out of white can be very hard.

As for the mane and tail, yes, you should use color enchaining shampoo to make sure it looks really clean. You should also consider using a tail bag to keep the tail neat and clean. If the filly is already really big, you may need a few tail bags, but that is okay too.

    Good Luck! :)

Ok.... so its expensive but Nexxus humectress shampoo and conditioner works like a charm! Ive been showing horses for 5 years and that's all we use! Its easy to brush them a week after to. The dirt just falls right out! It doesn't leave oiliness at all If you rinse all the way! Great stuff! I highly recommend it! Costco has a special going right now on it! $30 for a HUGE bottle! Good luck with your showing! Its hard to show young horses that are absolutely huge! I showed a 2yr filly. She was half Mustang/Frisian! Gorgeous lil thing, tho its not a walk in the park! haha It takes work and discipline! I give you props! =) Good luck!

Bay roan is only as hassle-free as Blue Roan, purple Roan... and such. that's in actuality purple Roan, however the colour of the coat and mane is greater resembling a Bay coloration, giving it the call "Bay Roan." EDIT: replaced the words for this reason to Giving :D
