I asked this before, but want more opinions. Christians and other believers in Christ,Can one follow God?
Christians and other believers in Christ,Can one follow God and/or Jesus and not his word?
I was just wondering how many think they can follow God and/or Jesus without following the word of God that being the bible.
God tells us what to do and how to act and be in the bible (his word). So can we follow God and/or Jesus without following the bible?
Thanks for your answers.

Jesus is God's word, follow him, he is the way, the truth and the life.

I think I know what you're saying here. I too thought at a very early age that God was leading me.. So I basically followed my heart...However, I made many mistakes along the way while doing so. Also, I learned twice as much about myself and others by reading God's Words in the Bible...You will find that God's Words are mirrored by what the Disciples and others have said about God and Word...The parts where you just can't accept that God was speaking is simply a misunderstanding on our part as the reader....Like we hear so many non-believers talk about how mean and cruel he was to so many by taking their lives and/or torturing them.....God was not like that...If he doesn't do it now, he didn't do it then....But we also know that many many more will pay for their actions here on earth in a later time...
So trust, believe and love no matter what the circumstances...Put yourself above all that happens in and around you as you know Jesus would do here on earth...Jesus also came that we might see who we should act and handle matters that deal with God's commands and Laws...Jesus set the bar and we should follow his lead..

Jesus Christ is the logos, which means just so many things. 'Word' is
so insipid compared to the many Greek meanings. Having researched this
one, one meaning is 'divine expression' and many other things.
So, we cannot separate the two. In John 15:14, we read 'You are my friends
if you do whatsoever I command you'.
Now there are many who stumble at this. So let us put it into another
context and see it is clearer.
Let us say you or I work for Bill Gates, in a high position. He is
the boss. He KNOWS. We know a little, like our job, our
position, but he sees the big picture.
If someone does not like Bill Gates, put someone in that you can
relate to that has high position and is very skilled, capable.
That person says to us, 'You are my valued employee if you can
follow my instructions'. Of course!! If we go about challenging him
at every turn, he will find someone else because he knows where
he wants to go with something and often he cannot tell us
everything. We might tell someone, or someone might get
us talking, you know how people can be.
So, we are close to Jesus when we do what He said which is in
the bible. Otherwise, we are hit and miss re: which way we are
going.
How many times have I thought something yet was constrained
to not do that, only to learn much later how it was perfect NOT
to do what I originally thought.

No, you can believe in god or jesus, but to follow their word, is to follow the bible, which would make you a christian.
Since you wouldn't be following the bible, you wouldn't be a christian. Unless you discover a totally new source of Jesus's teachings..
it can be done- write your own bible!

No that is not possible. The Bible says Jesus is the Word of God (John 1) so one can not claim to follow Jesus without following what the Word says. Besides, He said in John 14:15 that if you love me you will do my commands.
Joh_14:24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
Joh_15:7 If ye abide in me, AND MY WORDS ABIDE IN YOU, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

the bible is so long and detailed and contains a lot of metaphors, so, chances are that anything that is the right thing to do by the father, son and the holy ghost, is probably in there somehow. that being said, sometimes the bible is hard to understand and the message received from it could be different to how god intended, and the best thing to do can be to ask god or follow your instincts.

If by God you mean the Christian God, then no. But I also believe reading too much from the Bible is also bad. Everything should be treated with a grain of salt. I think it is wrong to live your entire life based on the words of a book. At times you should also use your own logic and think "does what Bible say really apply to my situation?", and last of all, pray.

As believers, we should follow the Word of God, but as long as we are in the flesh, we tend to stray from God's way and do things our way. When we fall, we ask Him for forgiveness. It's hard but we have to look at the choices we make and determine what God would want us to do.

either you or God is confused.
How can you follow the Lord if you don't know his way?
How can you learn ENGLISH... if you never HEARD IT was never TAUGHT IT>
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Hebrews 4:2 For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.
do you believe what the BIBLE says or what you believe?

The Bible is God breathed! How can you follow God, if you don't even know how to follow God or what to do? The Bible is your instructions manual lol. The people that say "Oh ya i believe in God, but not his book" are fools. I know, it sounds rough. But its the clear truth of it. The devil even believes in God lol. Here:
John 14:21 "He that has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved of My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him."
Luke 6:46 "But why do you call Me Lord, and not do the things which I say?"
I hope this helps! :)
