Hair Dying: What happens if you put white petrolium jelly ON thr hair?
So I've always heard if you out vaseline or white petroleum jelly around your hair line before you do a dye job, that the dye will not stain your skin. Well what if the jelly gets on the hair itself will those hairs not take the dye as well or just the skin under it?

Who told you to use Vaseline on your hair? Trolls who frequent the web, or so-called hair experts who write blogs?
What was the reason to use Vaseline, in the first place?
1. Try a bar of glycerine soap. Back before bottled shampoo was around, that's all we ever use for our hair - bar of soap. Rinse well until it is no longer slippery.
2. One suggested eggs, beat the eggs well in a bowl, lathered it into the hair, rinse well, then shampoo as usual.
3. From Vaseline themselves: use a hair dryer to liquidify the vaseline, blot with paper towel, then wash hair with shampoo that does NOT have a conditioner in it and repeat if necessary
