true very true they just want someone to tell them what they want to hear:

1Ti 4:1-3 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; (2) Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; (3) Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

When Paul wrote that most of the Christians even the devout ones could not read. And the bible was not completed. J/W's study and study and study and still don't know Jesus. I think the gospel is pretty simple and easy to understand God wanted to make it easy. We complicate it with the doctrines of man they change like the wind. God never changes. Jesus is The LORD.

I think the greatest failure is that they're following a dead religion that predicted the world would end in the 1st Century AD, and was never intended to be followed for thousands of years...
