Is it safe to use crackle paint on posters?

I have an old poster that's made out of very thick paper I'd like to get a crackled, aged finish on. Every DIY project I look up, it is used on wood, metal or glass. Is it safe to use on the poster? And what brand is best?

Unfortunately that type of paint won't work on cardboard or paper it is to porous and will ruin the poster.. You can make it look a bit older by using wet teabags on it and by moving it around the poster It will give it an aged brownish look like something that has been in a basement for a long period of time.but with out the crackled look.
