What can I use to clean off the film off my plastic headlight covers?I can't afford 60.00 they want .?

No household products. Google "headlight restorer" and you'll find a lot of options or go to your local auto parts store. They also have many cheaper options for you. No household products!!

OH! Those are not "covers" either. If damaged the whole unit gets replaced. The whole thing!! Do you have any Idea what they cost? $60 wouldn't even begin to cover the cost.

There are lots of different ways to clean up your headlights ranging from toothpaste to polishing compound.

The most practical method, in my opinion is the use of sandpaper. First, sand with 500 grit to remove the yellowed, oxidized material.

Use 1000 grit to smooth it out further, then finish up with 2000 grit paper.

Note: Use wet sanding method throughout this process

Now, wax the finished headlight and it should look like new.

I use a product on my plastic back window in my convertible. It's called Plastic-X. You put some on a cloth (damp, I think) & rub in a circle motion, then buff off with a clean rag. This has a very very fine grit to it & works well on my vert window.

Fairly cheap & sold at any auto parts place. Can't hurt to try it.

Any car parts place or auto accessory shop will sell you a headlight polishing kit, cost only $10 or so comes with instructions to get your headlight sparkling clear.
