Since the Spring of 2007, I have been the proud owner of a ca. 1916 Craftsman Bungalow. Since that time, I have learned so much about the restoration process of so many features. From reglazing windows, to restoring the natural beauty of all the woodwork, to choosing period and style appropriate colors & fabrics for my home. This place is not without it's quirks, but I do love it so. From the clang of the radiators when they heat up, to the wonderful Summer breezes on the 25' porch...I love everything about this place and strive to help others on their old house journey!
Want to buy 50's Tappan stove...?
Here is the stove I'm looking at: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/app/3865677...
I don't have natural gas where I live, so I've looked into propane conversion & found this:
*you might need to scroll about 1/2 way down until you see "AGS10 - Natural gas or propane regulator "
http://www.antiquegasstoves.com/pages/parts/gas.ht...
Have any of you out there done this? I am trying to convert my kitchen back to something cool & old. Plus...I have had enough of my funky elec. flat top POS!
Any "old school" service tech's out there? Have any of you done this kind of fuel conversion?
Thanks all....
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs8 years ago2000 Sonoma "service Engine Soon" light?
I bought this truck about 2 mos. ago. It was a 1-owner vehicle & is in nice shape. All of a sudden this service light came on.
I will certainly get it "serviced" if it actually needs it, but if it is just a tune up, I can do that myself.
Anyone have a clue about this light coming on? Veh. has about 100,500 on it.
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoThoughts on the Taurus Millennium Pro?
I have read opinions on other sites, but thought I'd ask here too.
Got this for personal protection. I have never owned a gun before & I am a petite female who lives alone. I decided it was time to get a handgun for my own protection & intend to take classes at the NRA headquarters down the road.
I was told a 9mm is plenty to do some damage to someone who finds themself in my home at 2 am without an invitation!
Your thoughts?
4 AnswersHunting9 years agoYahoo mail changes...?
Isn't it interesting how the new setup looks extremely close to Gmail???
They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Even so, the two can't compare. There's nothing as clean & simplistic as the original. I don't want to see "their" idea of my homepage every time I log in. That's BULL.
Yahoo is becoming very controlling, and something like my email & what comes up in my favorite links should be under MY control...not theirs.
1 AnswerNotices and Errors10 years agoSpam coming from "MY" email addy?
Every now & then I get junk mail that seemingly comes from "my" yahoo mail. I know this is just spammers getting around sending from their mailbox, but how do I get this to stop?
I can't flag it as spam since the sender is (byspammer default) ...ME!
Why does Yahoo allow this garbage to filter into their system? And how do I get this to stop, barring changing an email addy I've had for 12 years?
2 AnswersOther - Yahoo Mail10 years agoAny Old House owners here :0)?
I'm talking 1930 & older.
Just wondering how many old house folks visit this site. Tell me about your place! Have you searched the history?? :>)
Mine is a ca 1916 Craftsman Bungalow. Owned it since 2007 & absolutely fell in love with the big front porch & all the original light fixtures, wavy glass windows & gorgeous unpainted woodwork. It's built in the middle of a double lot & has wonderful tall Silver Maple shade trees.
I'd love to hear about your old place!!!

1 AnswerCredit10 years agoWhen old bad things drop off....?
This is more of a statement of information than a question....
I made an interesting observation today. I've had a 90 day late on a Sallie Mae account showing since September of 04 on my Trans Union.
I have read that old, bad info doesn't hurt your FICO's as much as they get older & being near nothing at 7 years.
Today that dropped off early. I had just purchased my TU FICO score last Friday. It was 706. Today, it went up to 751 !!!!
Just wanted to mention this to prove a point. No matter how old the "nasty" mark is, you get a very nice score jump when it's gone! I also want to add that this was the only remaining negative mark on that report.
WOO HOO! Now I only have 1 report out of all 3, with only one bad mark left to fall off.
This has been a long, hard credit repair journey, but now I'm finally running down the home stretch!
2 AnswersCredit10 years agoIs it just me............................?
...or are some of the q's in this forum absolutely ridiculous? Far too many young people with credit cards...using them on spammer sites, buying junk & having their #'s compromised, just totally clueless about credit, what it is for & how and where it should be used.
There should be a course in this in every single High School - everywhere - a pass or fail grade, and you cannot graduate until you pass.
I wish they'd have had this when I was in HS as well, but with the internet...that opened up an entirely new group of scumbags just waiting to live off someone else's credit & cash, and far too many young people just don't get it. They jump into the fire thinking they are smart & "it can't happen to me". Then they end up here....
I guess this was more of a vent than a question. And I am not categorizing all young people together, so please don't slam me for that. There are even a lot of adults that make stupid mistakes with their $$, but I'm just saying that just because you have a pulse & an income, that shouldn't just open you up to the credit card offers.
That's all.
