Usually Twice a year...unless they are spayed.

Yes! If a female is not Spayed, they go into heat (Estrus) usually every 6 months. They are in heat for 3 weeks. They need to be kept far away from unfixed males. The best and the healthiest thing you can do for your dog, is to have her Spayed as soon as she's no longer in heat.

Yes- twice a year for about 3 weeks each time until you spay them. If she is over 6 months old it can be done any time.
