TV sets do not have loudspeaker connections. If you took the set apart and disconnected the internal speaker(s), you could splice the RCA speaker wire to the wires you cut. The other, easier way to use the RCA speakers is to get an amplifier (or a receiver), connect the speaker(s) to it, and connect it to the TV using the Audio Out jacks with shielded cable (with RCA plugs on both ends).

Most tv today only provide you an optical audio connection, which has to be connected to a receiver or a home theater in a box with the optical audio input. They no longer provide speaker terminal connection, beside that they do not have enough power to drive any speakers. Hope this will help you out.
